Ikoyi
A Journey Through Bold Heat with Recipes

Publishing, Food

One of the most original, flavor-driven restaurants of its time.

We had the pleasure of collaborating with Phaidon on the highly anticipated debut cookbook from the acclaimed chef behind Ikoyi, the two-Michelin-starred London restaurant recognized among the World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2022.

Founded by childhood friends Iré Hassan-Odukale and chef Jeremy Chan, Ikoyi redefines contemporary dining with an innovative tasting menu shaped by Chan’s creative vision. The restaurant’s cuisine draws inspiration from the bold spices of Sub-Saharan West Africa while embracing the finest local farm produce and artisan ingredients.

‘In what seems like only a brief moment, Ikoyi has shaken the world of cooking.'

—René Redzepi, chef & co-owner of noma

Each page turn provides insight into the mind and kitchen of one of this generation’s future giants.

This debut cookbook is as visually striking as it is thought-provoking, with a design that mirrors Ikoyi’s unique aesthetic. The book’s bold typographic fusion and intricate pattern compositions take inspiration from Chan’s meticulous plating style, translating his culinary artistry into print. Vivid photography, rich textures, and dynamic layouts immerse readers in the restaurant’s vibrant world.

Beyond its striking visuals, the book weaves a compelling narrative about Ikoyi’s origins, shaped by Chan’s experiences living, cooking, and traveling across Hong Kong, Canada, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe. Each recipe is accompanied by a story detailing its development, highlighting the role of seasonality and locally sourced ingredients. With 80 meticulously crafted recipes, this cookbook encapsulates Chan’s signature style—bold heat, precision, and innovation—while offering a sensory journey through Ikoyi’s evolution.
